Dear parents and carers,
A very warm welcome to our website for Wroughton Infant Academy and Wroughton Junior Academies.
Our mission at Wroughton Academies is simple – to ensure all children achieve excellence, through hard work, courage and academic performance. We have a dedicated and wonderful team of staff who ensure that all children develop into the best version of themselves.
We provide a very good quality of education at Wroughton Academies and we constantly strive to achieve even more. We make no apologies for being a reading-focused school, where through a systematic approach to teaching phonics, reading for pleasure, exposure to fantastic texts, library sessions, class reader and a fully immersed Talk4writing curriculum, we ensure that all children leave us with the necessary skills and passion for reading. This unlocks children’s potential in a huge range of other subjects, which we also heavily focus on at Wroughton, such as music, languages, design technology, history, geography, Spanish and computing. We use the International Primary Curriculum, which provides coverage of all foundation subjects, but also with an additional focus on diversity, global and cultural awareness. We also have specialised team of PE staff delivering a high quality PE curriculum, but we also work hard to ensure all children can swim by the time they leave us – with swimming lessons in Year 2 and Year 5.
We have a range of carefully selected educational visits to enhance our curriculum, including residential trips, visits locally and nationally. We offer parents a before and after-school provision from 7.30am to 5.30pm. We are also very proud to support various charities through numerous themed days such as World book day, bring a pet to school day, Comic Relief – just to name a few. We have also worked with Skillforce with our children completing the Prince William Award, which focuses on developing character, resilience and confidence so children can be the best version of themselves.
I hope the website provides the information you require, but feel free to give our office a call on 01493 806780. Senior leaders and myself are always on the playground each morning and after-school, but I also offer a drop-in every Thursday 3.30pm to 4.30pm, where any parent can meet me without prior booking. My simple measure of what is good enough for Wroughton is if it would be good enough for my own two children.
