Dear parents and carers,
Firstly, a very warm welcome to our website for Wroughton Infant Academy and Wroughton Junior Academy. We work as one all-through school with Shrublands-Pre School laying the necessary foundations for many of our children and this ensures that children and parents have a seamless education from age 3 to 11 years.
Our mission at Wroughton is simple – to enable all children to achieve excellence, through hard work, courage and academic performance. We have a dedicated and wonderful team of staff who ensure that all children make good progress no matter what.
We are a good school, although we constantly strive to achieve even more. We make no apologies for being a reading-focused school, where through a systematic approach teaching phonics, reading for pleasure, exposure to fantastic texts and a fully immersed Talk4writing curriculum, we ensure that all children leave us with a love and passion for reading. This unlocks children’s potential in a huge range of other subjects, which we also heavily focus on at Wroughton, such as drama, music, languages, design technology, history, geography and computing. We have a range of carefully selected educational visits including residential trips, before and after-school provision from 7.30am to 5.30pm as well as numerous themed days World Book Day, bring a pet to school day, Comic Relief – just to name a few. We ensure our children engage in high-quality Physical Education every week, where we ensure that every child can swim. We also work with Skillforce and our children complete the Prince William Award, which focuses on developing character, resilience and confidence so children can be the best version of themselves.
I hope the website provides the information you require, but feel free to give our office a call on 01493 806780. Senior leaders and myself are always on the playground each morning and after-school, but I also offer a drop-in every Thursday 3.30pm to 4.30pm where any parent can meet me without prior booking. My simple measure of what is good enough for Wroughton is if it would be good enough for my own two children.
