Pupils with SEND

Our qualified and experienced SENDCo is Miss. Gosling.

At Wroughton Academies we have high expectations for all children, however, we recognise that some children will require different support, intervention and strategies to help them achieve national expectations. Those children with a learning difficulty that requires special educational provision will be identified as having SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).  A child or young person may have a special educational need at any time in their school life.

We have an aspirational and inclusive culture in our academies and work hard to be responsive to the diversity of children’s backgrounds, interests, experiences, knowledge and skills. We aim to create a learning environment which is supportive enough to meet the needs of all members of our school community, but still aspirational enough to meet national achievements and higher for all children. Staff continually assess the progress pupils are making, ensuring learning is taking place and intervening where necessary.

We work in partnership with parents and carers, swiftly seeking specialist support and advice from external professionals such as Educational Psychologists, Advisors, Speech and Language Therapists and Counsellors when necessary.

External services we work with include:

Class teachers work closely with parents and carers to create SEND support plans for children. These are reviewed every term and include the recommendations of any external professionals who have worked with the child.
